The World’s Most Famous American Bully “Dax”

Dax is now retired from the show ring, however his impact on the American Bully Community still remains strong. Ed Shepherd, owner of Dax, says he would still be able to win shows. However, since he’s now a grand champion, he sees no need for him to compete.

Ed has Dax house trained and says it plays a key role in his excellent health. Dax is never exposed to extreme temperatures, which can be deadly to canines. Many dogs suffer from heat strokes each year due to extreme temperatures. A heatstroke can occur when your dog's body temperature rises past 102.5 F. Dogs can overheat in temperatures as low as 80 F with high humidity.

Warning signs that your dog may be suffering from heat exhaustion:

  • Fatigue
  • Loud wheezing (May sound similar to snoring)
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • Confusion and seizures

If these symptoms are occurring you need to act fast. The first thing you need to do is get your dog’s temperature down. This can be done by wetting him down with room temperature water and putting him in front of a fan. Do not use ice. Ice can causes dog’s blood vessels to constrict. When their blood vessels constrict they’ll be unable to get rid of the heat. While your dog is cooling down, contact your local veterinarian as soon as possible.

Best ways to keep your bully cool in the summer:

  • misting system
  • plenty of shade
  • plenty of water

  1. I’m sorry. I’m not tryna take away anything from the man. But why is it noone gives credit to these females. Or in fact Gotti himself. 90%of these dogs wouldn’t be here if Gotti wasn’t around. Or Paco, or Gloryboy. Just my opinion.
